AGREEMENT

These Terms of Use govern the use of our website and services. By using our website or services, the client agrees to abide by these terms.

SERVICES

Sweet Speech Therapy offers virtual consultations, assessments, and virtual therapy for speech (articulation, motor speech, fluency/stuttering), language, and early literacy delays and disorders. Services are provided through virtually through videoconferencing (e.g. Zoom, Jane). We do not offer in-person sessions.

ELIGIBILITY

Services are accessible to residents of Ontario, Canada as well as English-speaking residents of Québec, Canada.

CONSENT FOR VIRTUAL SERVICES

By booking a session with Sweet Speech Therapy, you consent to participating in virtual therapy via video and/or audio communication. You are responsible for ensuring a reliable internet connection, compatible device, and a private, quiet space for the session.

While virtual therapy is effective, it has limitations, including potential technical issues. Sweet Speech Therapy is not responsible for lost time due to these issues, though adjustments may be made in the event of significant disruptions on our end.

By proceeding, you consent to the use of video conferencing software and agree to our terms and conditions.

APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING

Initial assessments can be scheduled through our website or through email (hello@sweetspeechtherapy.ca). Follow-up appointments can be scheduled directly with our practitioners through email or during appointments.

PAYMENT

A credit card will be kept on file for payment after each completed session. If you wish to pay through e-transfer, please discuss this with your practitioner; however if we have not received payment from you 24 hours after a session, the session fee will be charged to the card on file.

INSURANCE

Sweet Speech Therapy does not currently offer direct billing to insurance companies. However, we provide detailed receipts that allow you to submit for reimbursement as detailed by your insurance company. Additionally, our services may be tax deductible - we recommend speaking with an accountant for further details.

CANCELLATION + NO SHOW POLICY

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice or miss their appointment will be charged a cancellation fee equal to the full session rate on the credit card on file.

If a therapist is unable to attend a scheduled session due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you as quickly as possible via email. The therapist will then offer an alternative time to reschedule the session based on availability in their schedule. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in these situations.

LATE ARRIVAL

If you connect late for your appointment and your therapist determines that they are unable to complete a meaningful and productive session with the remaining time, the “no show/late cancellation” fee will be charged at the therapist’s discretion.

PRIVACY & CONFIDENTIALITY

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. All information collected from clients will be kept confidential in accordance with applicable laws and professional ethical standards.

While we take every precaution to ensure confidentiality, please be aware that electronic communication (including e-mail, texting, and video conferencing) cannot be considered completely secure and confidential. By choosing to communicate and participate through these mediums, you assume the risk and understand the potential implications regarding privacy and confidentiality.

LIABILITY DISCLAIMER

While Sweet Speech Therapy strives to provide high-quality virtual speech-language pathology services, we cannot guarantee specific results or outcomes. By participating in virtual therapy, you acknowledge and accept that there are limitations to online services compared to in-person sessions. These limitations may include technical difficulties, such as internet connectivity or device issues, which may affect the delivery of services.

FEEDBACK & REVIEWS

We deeply value your feedback and strive to provide the highest quality of care. While the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) does not allow for collection of written reviews and testimonials, we encourage you to contact us directly with any concerns or suggestions regarding our services.

TERMINATION OF SERVICES

Sweet Speech Therapy reserves the right to discontinue services if a client exhibits disruptive, disrespectful behavior or actions that pose a risk to themselves, other clients, or our staff.

If we feel that our services are not the best fit for a client, we will make every effort to assist in finding a more suitable speech-language pathologist or clinic. Clients can also terminate services at any time by informing Sweet Speech Therapy during sessions or through phone or email.
